COVID-19 Update

We continue to adapt to the changing guidance from government, as well as listening to colleague and customer feedback, taking the necessary steps to ensure we’re doing our bit to help keep ourselves and others safe.

Health & Safety
At all times, our priority is the health, safety and wellbeing of our customers and our colleagues.

Mandatory face coverings - In accordance with recent government announcements, it is mandatory for all customers (with certain exceptions) in England, Wales and Scotland to wear a face covering in our stores for the duration of their visit. We thank you for your cooperation.

All our store colleagues in England, Wales and Scotland will wear masks or protective visors while on the shop floor and not behind a safety screen, unless they have a medical exemption. This is to keep both our teams and you, our customers safe throughout the day.

Social distancing in stores - Our colleagues continue to maintain a high level of personal and store cleanliness through routine handwashing and regular cleaning throughout the day in store. In addition, the following social distancing measures are in place for everyone’s safety:

- We have marked a zone at the till to maintain a safe distance between our colleague and the customer
- We have signage in store to manage queuing to maintain a safe distance between customers
- Till screens are in place in all of our counters and we are providing visors for all colleagues to wear
- Customer numbers are limited in store at any one time (numbers agreed locally dependent on size and layout of store)

Our teams in store have been given clear advice regarding their own personal health and hygiene. We have clear guidelines on when a colleague needs to self-isolate for the protection of themselves, their colleagues in store and for our customers.

Product Availability
Our colleagues continue to work hard to maintain availability on all of the core products that our customers rely upon us for, and we are pleased to say that availability on most products are returning to normal levels. We still continue to have some challenges where there remains high demand for some products and for the time being, we are maintaining limits on the number of those items. Thank you for supporting us and appreciating these limits, as we try to help as many people as possible.

Home News Delivery
We continue to operate our Home News Delivery Service and recognise the benefit that this brings for many of our customers, particularly those that may be self-isolating.

There may be localised disruption to the service and we may need to deliver later than the normal times however we are committed to getting the papers and magazines out to the local community.

Store Closures
We may on occasions need to close stores for short periods of time to ensure that standards can be maintained for your safety and that of the store team, and we thank you for your patience whilst we do our best to serve our local communities at this difficult time.
