These amazing chocolate vodka cupcakes have a wonderful chocolate flavour and are frosted with a chocolate icing and have a hidden strawberry vodka centre.

These boozy cupcakes are recommended for adults only.

For the cupcakes:

120 grams unsalted butter
200 grams of caster sugar
2 free range eggs
200 grams of plain flour
40 grams of cocoa powder
1 tsp of baking powder
Pinch of salt
150 ml of milk
80 ml of warm water
80 ml of vodka
Fresh strawberries to decorate (optional)
For the strawberry filling:
4 tbsp strawberry jam
80 ml of vodka
For the chocolate icing:
120 grams unsalted butter
4 tbsp cocoa powder
250 grams icing sugar
2 tsp milk
2 tsp vanilla essence


1. Cream together the butter and sugar.
2. Stir in the eggs and milk and then the warm water and vodka.
3. Add flour, baking powder, pinch of salt and cocoa and mix together.
4. Divide the mix between each cupcake case.
5. Bake for 25-30 mins at 180C / 350F.
6. In a bowl add strawberry jam and mix in 80ml of vodka.
7. Once the cupcakes are cooked and cooled slightly use an apple corer and remove centre of cake (but not all the way to the base). Add a teaspoon of the vodka strawberry jam to each cake.
8. For the chocolate icing, mix together the butter and icing sugar in a bowl.
9. Add cocoa, vanilla essence and milk and mix together.
10. Put the icing into a piping bag and pipe on top of each cupcake.
