Try this refreshing twist on a traditional sangria and use white wine instead of red to complement the summer fruit of strawberries, peaches and oranges. The perfect Spanish summertime party punch.

50g caster sugar

A small cinnamon stick, or ½ tsp ground cinnamon

A small handful of mint leaves

200g strawberries, hulled and quartered

200g peaches, cut into 2cm chunks

1 orange, halved and sliced

750ml dry white wine, chilled

250ml sparkling water, chilled

1) Add the sugar to a saucepan with the cinnamon and mint leaves. Bring to the boil, stirring, then reduce the heat and allow it to simmer for 5 minutes. Remove from the heat and set aside.

2) When the syrup is cool, strain it into a jug. Place all of the fruit into the jug, along with plenty of ice cubes, pour in the wine and top up with the sparkling water.
