These traditional autumnal treats are easy and fun and the kids will love the Halloween twist!
4 wooden skewers or lolly sticks
225g brown sugar
1 teaspoon vinegar
Black food colouring
Black food glitter (optional)
1) Pour the sugar into a medium-sized saucepan and add the water. Bring to the boil, then add the vinegar, butter and food colouring.
2) Cook for 8-10 minutes, stirring occasionally. You can test to see if it’s ready by coating the back of a wooden spoon with some of the toffee and drizzling it into a small bowl of cold water. If the toffee hardens immediately, it means it’s ready.
3) Push the skewers or lolly sticks into the apples and then dip them in the toffee mixture to coat and black food glitter if using. Rest them on a tray lined with parchment paper until set.
